STATEMENT OF INTENT
Sum of Infinity
“Om Purnamadah Purnamidam Purnatpurnamudachyate Purnasya Purnamadaya Purnameva Vashishyate”
(Any thing created by the complete is also complete. If the complete is taken away from the complete, what remains is also complete.)
My work represents a conscious and conceptual journey in which i experience life as an “Indian”, wholly & physically. My work thus becomes a representation of my experience of myself.
The physical situation i am in becomes the inspiration for my conceptual travel. These two aspects live together and occupy my life and work.
The idea that dualities have sharp and fixed boundaries, is limiting. Binaries like yes/no, true/false, young/old, life/death also suggest the possibility of multiple transitionary stages. And each transition can have its moment of absolute meaning.
The same is true with colours, form & characters in a painting. It is a very thin line that designates its value in varying increments of Power, Depth, Strength, Intensity, Force, Density etc.
The conversation between me and the space, forms colours and the textures around me is what I want to transform into my work of art may it be a painting, print making or sculpture.
When I say form, colours, space, and texture, I want it all to exist in my work of art in its ultimate pure state. To me it’s a challenge to bring them all to their utmost expression, parallel to my thought
“Sum of Infinity” is this expression in its complete form.
